I really love their shields. Brings out the inner halo fan in me.
Also good job on all the technical work you do on your models. It sounds like a real pain, but it appears to my untrained eye to come out excellent.

I love the shields, they remind me a lot of the Jackal shields from halo. Where did you get all the picks from? They kinda remind me of the steampunk AoS dwarves' weapons

Heh, after making the shields I thought people might compare them to a character from Overwatch and think I stole it from there, when I did in fact think of it myself. As for the picks:

Kubrok and Gulyosha's are just standard picks from Fantasy Dwarf kits.
The ones wielded by Prydulga, Dorri, Vorvr and Ruthyr are from the Chaos Marauder kit.
Savovari's is a Dwarf Irondrake Grudgehammer Torpedo with a spearhead on the back.
Volgobasr's is two spearheads.
Brogi's is a spearhead on the front and an axe on the back.
Finally, Sergeant Ingvan's is an axe on the back and the top of a High Elf waystone pillar on the front.

For this week's Miniature Monday, continuing but approaching the end of my current project, here is Librarian Alvstav of the Space Mammoths 1st Company!



I tried something a little different with the colour scheme, while trying to keep to the blue theme Librarians are known for. I hope it worked, though the closer I look the worse it appears as always. Several times I thought it easier not to bother, but decided to persevere - I left the helmet, however, as I felt that trying patterns on there would be more mess than appeal.
Making the Psychic Hood was a challenge. I went through a number of ideas - gluing on wires, spires from Battlefleet Gothic ships, things like that. In the end, I was searching through my spare bits and found the front of a pre-heresy suit of Cataphractii Terminator Armour, which attaches to the back through a wave pattern. All I had to do was cut away the hood section and glue it on backwards. The Librarian Crux Terminatus was another challenge, but an easier one - I just cut away the crossbones in the upper part, and glued on horns from a Skaven Stormvermin standard. I also realised that I lacked enough Storm Bolters for my army, but was able to make up the difference with one repainted one from an old model in my normal squads and using a right-handed metal one with the hand cut away and attached to a Power Sword arm here. I think it worked out alright, as long as you do not look at the grip too closely.
Incidentally, Alvstav's name is based on that of a very well known fictional character, but I will leave their identity for you to guess.

I think it came out pretty well. I like the little details on the back and the tusks especially. The arms have a ton of detail that i like.

As for the name, Alvstav, I have little idea where it comes from this early in the morning. My only guess is Alistar from Dragon Age or another series. Google is suggesting something from the Iliad.

For this week's Miniature Monday, we have the final model for my latest army, 1st Captain Brynzorig of the Space Mammoths!



He is an old warrior renowned for his unflappability but also known for his caution, a rarity in the Space Mammoths. He inherited the Beast Blade from the Chapter Master, Rhystrym, who was interred in a Dreadnought after his third duel against Imotekh the Stormlord where the Necron once again severed his hand, not realising that Rhystrym had implanted a high explosive in the augmetic. The Beast Blade was claimed from the Orks during Waaagh! Beast, and far older than that - a blade of dark stone of far greater density than any known material (at least known to them), only wieldable due to the antigravitic rings running down its spine. It is nigh indestructible, the only chips in its blade coming from the numerous times it has clashed with the Wailing Doom of an Avatar of Khaine, and in one legendary battle it broke the god's blade (and then Calgar took the kill and all of the glory).

I am a little disappointed by the left arm, and feel I should have found one that was a bit more extended to convey more clearly that he is shielding the injured Guardsman, but oh well.

With that, my Space Mammoths Demicompany is finally complete! I do not think I will be getting the other half of the company any time soon.

I like the green on the blade. The shield still reminds me of Jackals from Halo. With the Guardsman being on the model is he technically apart of the unit? I like his beard and the colors on him a lot too.

Thank you for catching that. Sadly the guardsman is just decoration - I used to use him as an objective marker for my Necron army.

For this week's Miniature Monday, we are momentarily meandering from the mainstream to the madness of Malifaux - here is Izamu the Armour, of the Ten Thunders and Resurrectionist factions.



I tried to go with a faded scheme, as if the armour and cloth had once been a vibrant red, but age and wear had reduced it to pink. However, the real reason was just that I like to paint pink. It is tricky to manage 'faded' without just hitting 'drab', and I suppose whether I succeeded or not is up to you to decide. For the blade, I attempted a weathered, beaten metal effect, by stippling the paint on - that is, using an old, short and stiff-haired brush and tapping it against the model. For the scabbards, I attempted to make it look like the varnish was peeling, but I think I just made a mess instead - I know I did with the fan, I tried so many times to do an interesting design, but it just looked worse and worse until painted over it and went with that simple look instead.
Most of my Malifaux miniatures are on my painting shelf, and have been there for several years. If I find the time, I might look into doing something about that before too long.

Well, it seems that a pink samurai is not very popular, so I will return to form for this Miniature Monday. I would have liked to use one of my Tomb Kings for Foundation Day, but I have no good pictures of them and they are currently buried, so this will have to do:



This is Lord Dj'ehon of the Nekhet dynasty. In life, they were siblings - a brother and a sister - who together served as the direct subordinates of Overlord Ahtorus. However, after biotransference and the passage of so many millennia, when they were being woken from their slumber, an error in the aged systems caused them both to be uploaded to the same body. This is understandably inconvenient, but as yet the Crypteks have discerned no way of separating them, so they have been forced to make do. Despite their situation, they serve as one of the saner figures of the dynasty. Their combined black and white heraldry have become a check-pattern, which was quite interesting to paint on the long scaled cloak. This is also one of the models on which my helmet-design conversion of the heads worked out better.
In keeping with the rest of my knightly Necrons, they are inspired by the real historical figure of Chevalier D'eon, a transgender knight and spy.
