This is actually incorrect. Article II, Section 2(3) of the Scroll of Ma'at empowers the Council of Scribes to "remove any government officer from office by three-fifths majority vote, with the assent of the Pharaoh" and goes on to exclude
only the Pharaoh from the Council's power to remove government officers from office. As the Heir Apparent is explicitly named a senior government officer by Article VI, Section 1(1) of the Scroll of Ma'at, and is not granted an exemption anywhere else in the Scroll of Ma'at, the Council of Scribes can in fact remove the Heir Apparent from office by three-fifths majority vote and with the assent of the Pharaoh. The Pharaoh is also empowered by Article III, Section 2(1) to vacate the office of Heir Apparent.
That said, I nonetheless strongly agree with Amerion's broader point, that this process should be extremely deliberative. There shouldn't be any bandwagoning.

Coincidentally, I was in the process of editing my post to reflect your point, as you were posting. I have since stricken that particular part from my post.

Amerion wrote:Fri Jun 03, 2016 3:46 pmAs I have had somewhat regular contact with Cormac over the year and a bit we have known each other, I am aware of his stances on various issues and his vision for this region.
The same cannot be said for Neo Kervoskia. That is not to mean any disrespect. I am simply curious as to your own vision for this region, an agenda (if you have one), your style of governance, and your public presence/persona (i.e. Koth has a humorous personality and that was reflected in his most recent term as Pharaoh). Could you please expound on your personal and/or political philosophies?
Unrelated to this particular nomination, the following comment is more in relation to the appointment of the Heir Apparent.
I would like to see the deliberation of this Council to last as long as is possible. The Heir Apparent will one day ascend to the highest office in the region. Neither this Council nor any other governing body will have the authority to remove either the Heir Apparent[1] or the Pharaoh. As such, this discussion is the only opportunity available to the populace to ensure that we are entrusting the region's most sacred position to the right nation.
It may very well be that the nominated nation is the most suitable candidate and thus, approval of this Council would be understandably appropriate. However, if members are simply 'bandwagoning', then I would most strenuously advise against doing so. It is the civic prerogative of every nation to exercise their judgements and state their opinions, whether it be in favour or against a matter before this Council.
As cliché as this may seem, there are no right or wrong opinions. If you have one, voice it.
[1]Edit: The Scroll of Ma'at does not state specifically that the Heir Apparent cannot be removed. However, it assumed that he/she cannot be, considering the Pharaoh and Heir Apparent are 'royalty'. If Cormac could provide clarification on this, it would be appreciated.
I've been on NationStates for quite a while now and in all that time I have never encountered a region like Osiris. I remember when Osiris was born - what a chaotic day that was. Armies poured into Osiris, racing to gain control. People were at each other's throats and the future was uncertain. But out of that chaos grew a community. Nations from disparate backgrounds came together to build a home. Osiris became a melting pot and a symbol of opportunity - a land of second chances. Any policy, any agenda comes from that. We must remain open to friendly nations of all backgrounds who can contribute positively to Osiris. I am not a raider, nor a defender, nor an an imperialist, nor a cosmopolitan. I am an Osiran. I have no home or allegiance but to Osiris.
Cormac's reign so far has been exemplary. He has set the tone for how future monarchs should conduct themselves. They should neither force themselves upon every issue nor remain in the background as a figurehead. The Pharaoh s the symbol of unity and regional character, as well as the best security we have against those who wish to undermine our independence. The Pharaoh should be ever watchful, but be judicious in their intervention. They must steer the ship of state through calm and dangerous waters alike.
I am a nuts and bolts person. I focus on the mechanics of a problem and how to solve it. No, I'm not an RPer or a spammer, but I am no less accessible to the people. I have an active Skype presence and should anyone need anything or simply wants to talk I'm there. I prefer to work one-on-one to tackle a problem.

Osiris is heading in the right direction. There may be changes in style due to different personalities , but in terms of governing and structure the present system serves Osiris well and I see no need for changes at the present moment.

It's been a week since I submitted this appointment, and three days since the last question. Are there any other questions or comments from citizens? We're happy to answer any remaining questions you may have.
