I've noticed recently we don't seem to care how many jobs or roles people have elsewhere and it's letting people slip by without being scrutinised heavily enough. It shouldn't be down to one or two members of the Deshret to investigate everything but should be down to the candidates to educate us on who they are, and their commitments - both present and past in NationStates.
I am also in support of that.

Lord Ravenclaw wrote:Fri Dec 04, 2015 9:13 pmWe don't need term limits. The only Pharaoh of the OFO to serve more than one term was Tim, who served two. Osiris doesn't have the issue of us needing to prevent stuff like that. Please please, please, do not legislative unnecessary stuff just for the sake of legislating. We want quality, and positive legislation that benefits our community not legislation which legislates for a problem that doesn't exist. Only one Pharaoh has ever served more than two terms and she resigned less than a month into her third.
Thank you for your comment, Raven. I definitely see your point of view. However, first of all, I want to assure you that I'm not proposing my ideas for the "sake of legislating." Also, while what you said about term limits may be true, I still think we need to regulate/better define our term laws, at least. For one thing, I'm not sure whether you've noticed, but the recent Keeper Election (in which I was voted in) was more than 30 days behind the date it was supposed to be held at. Now, I don't know about you, but I think that's something that should not have happened. Even if we are not going to be setting term limits, we need to at least clean up our laws so that this blunder would be avoided in the future.
As for your disclosure proposal/idea, I think it is a great one, actually. It would allow us to know who the politicians we're electing are and what they're doing/have done outside of Osiris.
@ Tim Stark, you've convinced me in regards to my citizenship reform proposal.

I would like to take responsibility for the election being a month late. It was my job to hold the election and I did not keep track like I should have. It was not on the calendar and it slipped my mind and, unfortunately, it seems that it slipped most people's minds.
I would definitely be interested in a bill that would help prevent things like that happening in the future.

I feel like I'm unsure of a bill that can really solve a problem like that. If an election is held late, it is solely the responsibility of the Administrator of said election in regards to why it was late. Furthermore, given that I know Festavo's pretty accessible, it should be noted that anybody else aware of the election needing to happen could have poked him. Delegacy is a busy job, it's easy to forget about some of the things that need to be put in. Essentially, I'd say that it should just be the Pharaoh's responsibility to find ways to remember, whether that be by putting in a recurring forum event as a reminder or scheduling it into their own calendar, or some other method that would allow for a Pharaoh to remember about it.
However, if we'd like to add some aspects to improve timeliness, we could add secondary Administrators to elections? What Spiritus, sorry for the shameless plug, does is have the Founder (myself) administrate all elections by default. However, the same system then sets up that if I am not around to open them, or if I'm planning on running in them, any other member of the Guardians (our Admin team) is able to set up said election. Would it be an idea to put in one of our government bodies, or administrative bodies, as a secondary option for opening elections? I feel like either the Pschent, the Atef, or the Administrative Team would be best suited.

We have a very active Administration team composed of really dedicated and trustworthy Administrators, and so with that in mind, I'd support having them as secondary election commissioners.
