I honestly don't understand the summer lull, people are out of school, you'd think they'd have more time for this not less.

I think it's because most of the people who play NationStates are either high school or college students. During the school year they're avoiding homework and trying to escape the stress of RL. During the summer, they're socializing -- either because they want to or their parents force them to :P -- and getting out of the house and having fun.

I think we generally do see an uptick. I've seen more of Anumia and Guy this summer than usual, I think...

But we don't have nearly as many players from the southern hemisphere as we do from the northern, so the uptick doesn't compensate for the lull in the northern hemisphere.
