I like those amendments. Like I said, I personally enjoy leaving the description a bit less fleshed out so there is wiggle room and the festival will seem a bit different every year. Anyways, looks good and good idea.

It could just be that the Pharaoh can announce honors whenever they want and those honors can be *celebrated* at the next feast?
Also, what's the protocol for rescinding honors? Is that just something the next Pharaoh who comes along can do, or do we want a stronger mechanism in place for that?

Sections 2.4-5 allow the Deshret to remove honors and for honors to be automatically removed if convicted of a high crime or felony. The Pharaoh actually isn't permitted to remove honors by this draft, which is something we may want to look at changing, though I felt that an honored citizen, once honored, should only have that removed by decision of the community. I could see a subsequent Pharaoh with a grudge against someone just arbitrarily removing their honors.

I enjoy the thought of holidays, but dislike placing people above others with fancy titles and crowns and the like. I see no need for that what so ever and making these things official doesn't sit well with me. But, I've always disliked that though so I'll comment on the holidays and just note my meh-ness to the rest.
I think the only appropriate description for this stance is... communism!
I support the proposal. Cause I'm not a communist.

Nah, people still have a right to raise themselves amongst others and attain jobs of power and importance for their work. But I think the whole flaunting some elitist title that your buddy gave you, it just ain't my cup of tea. Want to acknowledge someone's hard work on a military mission? Write them a nice post declaring their bravery and victory, describing their actions. Someone has been extraordinary at culture in Osi? Give them a game within the festival.
Titles and crowns are buillshit. =P But an honor I think is something appropriate to recognize someone. Also I've supported this bill since the start. The new fancy amendments make it more agreeable.

I believe this war, therefore, should not be a matter of raiding and defending. It's a matter of moral decency. Don't wear tights. Don't live in forests. Don't dress up and roleplay as animals. It's wrong, and the LKE is taking the initiative to exterminate this horrible organization.

I think that the act should be split so that those who like the holiday ideas but not the titles, or vice versa, would not be conflicted

The awards mentioned are specific to the holidays though. You either marry them in legislation or you have legislation for holidays and separate legislation for honors that are not related to those holidays. Frankly, I'd prefer a third approach because I like this proposal but share in the concern that limiting ourselves to awarding high honors so infrequently is a hindrance rather than an advantage. You can keep the holiday-specific honors but downgrade them a bit. Then have separate legislation for high honors and the establishment of honored citizen privileges that doesn't stunt our discretion in terms of bestowing them.Blaine Zeorus Montresor wrote:Tue Jun 24, 2014 9:58 pmI'd second this.Koth wrote:Tue Jun 24, 2014 9:44 pmI think that the act should be split so that those who like the holiday ideas but not the titles, or vice versa, would not be conflicted

I'm ok with keeping the honors with this bill as they do coincide. I think permanent titles are a bit much, but I'd support this bill either way because the holiday idea is so strong.
