Time to make Osiris feel good
Hello to the nations of Osiris
As you know, I am Andrew current Scribe of Media and I am here to appeal for your vote in this Pharaoh Election. I do believe people know me well enough, so I won't include a NationStates Bio and go straight onto my agenda. Agenda
Activity:
I do believe, beyond doubt, that the primary focus of candidates running in this election will be restoring Osiris' activity on both offsite-forum and in-game site. This will not be an easy task for any administration, and as various individuals have said, it is not the sole responsibility of the Executive but a team effort of the entire Region to keep itself active.
I would use the resources available to myself to assist in the promotion of activity across Osiris, using means such as: regular regional polls, regional wide TG's, dispatches, RMB discussions and any other available means to further raise motivation amongst native Osirans and other viewing nations to be more active participants of this Community.
As, im sure, most of us know, Balder has also been experiencing a similar dilemma regarding its regional activity. But because of the mother-like persistence of Queen Rach, Balder has seen a rise in it's overall regional activity. I believe Osiris should take similar steps to tackle this situation and that both Sister Regions should assist each other out of decline, as a part of strengthening our foreign policy and embracing Balder as we did so strongly in the past.
Integration:
What I think has been a lack in previous administrations is the communication between the offsite government and in-game community. I understand that is simple to just look at whats happening on the forums and try and get involved, but without that motivation, without that guidance, nations pass us over and move onto different regions or just remain inactive and eventually CTE. Most nations, I know I certainly do, do judge a book according to its cover. If this region doesn't look alive and progressing, most nations will just pass us by.
Seeing as Osiris is a Sinker Region and receives a regular flow of nations, without the need to resort to manual recruitment, I think Osiris needs to take this opportunity and use it to our advantage. As Pharaoh, I would see the creation of an Integration Ministry, responsible for communicating, interrogating, and welcoming new nations to the Osiran Community and giving them a hand in becoming familiar with the workings of their Region.
I have seen this method in practice and its works beautifully. In The North Pacific, I am currently working as Deputy Minister of Home Affairs under Minister Tomb and Delegate r3n. The Home Affairs Ministry is charged with communicating, interrogating and welcoming new nations to The North Pacifican Community and giving them a guiding hand to become familiar and at home in TNP. This guiding hand that gave nations motivation and confidence to step up, introduce themselves to the community and participate in what TNP had to offer, resulted in The North Pacific's sudden surge of activity on both offsite forum and in-game site, and its achievement of a grand record of 600 WA's endorsing their Delegate.
I think we should look up to what has been accomplished in The North Pacific, as role-model for Osiris, of what we would like this region to have. There has been talk about the low endorsement count that the Osiran Delegate maintains in comparison to other GCR Delegates; an 80 endo count in a region of over 100 WA's. I believe we need to look around and attempt to implement the methods, that have been successful in other regions, that are in the interests of Osiris. I think this idea, which requires a very minimal amount of individuals to implement, could lead to the upbringing of the number of WA's in the region, participants in the forums and Osiris itself, once again.
Foreign Affairs:
Throughout Osiran History, Osiris has mostly taken center stage regarding foreign policy. We took center stage again during October when Osiris decided to declare war on Lazarus. A bold move. A daring one also. A move planned to provide needed attention and activity to this region and further increase military gameplay. How wrong we were. The War resulted in nothing more than just an exchange of bitter arguments, while each side rallied up its allies to assist in holding their defenses.
But in the end, we lost more than we had gambled. The actions took before and after the war saw the severance of relations with many regions, and some going to the extent of condemning Osiris for it's choice of action to go to war for 'petty reasons'. Now, after the war, we see the gravity of what our actions cost us. Some say Osiris has practically isolated itself from other regions.
But Osiris has acknowledged its fault, it has acknowledged that is wasn't wise to declare war on such grounds. But acknowledgement isn't enough. We need to take responsibility for our actions and take the first steps to reconciliations with all the regions we have offended. We need to extend the hand of friendship to Lazarus, The South Pacific, The West Pacific and other regions we may have wronged so we may make a foundation to which we can build upon in the future.
So, in summary my goals for the term,should I get elected, are to continue to strengthen and rebuild our relationships with our allies and to work with a diversity of regions in order to create a foundation for more chances for friendly interregional relationships.
Military:
Osiris has been able to build and maintain a Military since the establishment of the Fraternal Order. But after periods of inactivity in past administrations, it has declined and its participants dwindled. However, in recent days, the Legion has been awoken from its hibernation in time to participate in the Liberation of Anne Frank
My Military Agenda will focus on rebuilding and sustaining the Sekhmet Legion. It is my aim to rebuild the Legion from the bottom, up. Re-accessing its values, structure etc.. and molding it into one of the major military powers within the game. If elected I plan to work with the relevant Scribe to ensure that the proper supervision are in place, implement the appropriate policies to prevent the Legion from returning to its hibernation, and balancing the operation and training necessities of the Legion to assist with our overall domestic and foreign policy.
It is time for the Legion to live up to its true potential, as a world power.
Culture:
During my time in Osiris, I've seen big, extensive role-playing programmes that flooded with activity at their beginning, but failed in the long run. Individuals turn their attention elsewhere, the organizer gets caught up in other business, or things just dont come together as anticipated. An example of this would be the House system established during Pharaoh Joshua Ravenclaw's tenure. The Deshret passed an act which established the House System and created the position of House Registrar, as appointed by the Pharaoh. Being the first administration of a newly established government, Joshua got caught up in other things, and by the time a Registrar was appointed, most had already lost interest and moved on.
But a Registrar was appointed anyways, to regulate the few that were still interested. Over time, we saw it was nothing but hassle; difficult to implement and things were just made too complicated. Eventually the act was repealed and adopted as Executive Policy. As the administrations came and went, the policy became less and less implemented.
Therefore my focus in Culture, will be to promote the small, and growing Role-Plays that we have. After all the politics regarding the governance of the region and the military gameplay aspect, what have we left? What will we have left, to attract and keep new individuals entertained and at home in Osiris? What have we left, unique to Osiris? Our unique and brilliant culture
Not everybody who joins Osiris, will be interested in the politics or military gameplay, therefore it should be in equal significance as all the rest of the concerning matters facing our Region. I think that cultural activities should focus on starting out small, reasoned OOC projects and building its way up from there. Gaining a stable foundation of guidelines and members that participate, then endeavoring to further advance in size. It is my belief, from there, it is the duty of the Executive Administration to further promote this cultural aspect of the region to help it become firmly apart of Osiran Culture and a front which Osiris can use to welcome new nations at our door.
After all, Osiris is unique. It is the only major region that maintains an Ancient Egyptian Theme, giving the region a variety of options to work with to build and develop our culture around Ancient Egypt and further promote our uniqueness abroad.
Other:
I very much concur with what Cormac campaigned during the Keeper Elections before he decided to instead leave the race. If im elected, intend to work will Ainocra and the Deshret, to examine our existent legislation and determine what, if anything, we think needs to be changed or can be improved.
I also very much support the idea of the re-examination of our judicial system, due to the non-existence of crime in the Osiris Fraternal Order, and whether it is necessary to have three people as permanent judges unable to serve in other capacities, as well as the possibility of exploring a completely new judicial system.
