As I can now post here, I'll re-post what I said prior.

It saddens me to see you go just as these revelations come to light for you as they have for many others who were unable to do anything. However, RL is always first and I wish you the best of luck in your new job. Hopefully the other RL issues aren't too bad, and they'll end in positive ways as it's never good to have yuck happening IRL. I hope to see the next elected Pharaoh be one who branches from these ideas and revelations that you lay out; taking Osiris into a more progressive era that is perhaps more pure than it ever has been. It is difficult to find many parallels between the Osiris Fraternal Order and the Kemetic Republic of Osiris, but I believe that one of them was that both regimes wanted what they absolutely thought was best for the region. I hope to see that continue with this next election, something I see as a major passing of the torch, paving the way to an Osiris that is significantly free of outside influences that wish to bend it to be a simple dump for their amusement; from both sides of the spectrum.

It's a shame. I too have had real life divert me away from my hobbies, although I can't really measure up to you in that your life is diverting you away from being the Pharaoh of the OFO.

Just as a note, as there seems to be some confusion, I'm not retiring from NationStates. I'll still be around on IRC in the evenings sometimes and I'm still going to be R/Ding -- just not in Osiris, not while it's still under the thumb of imperialists, though I do sincerely wish most of you the best and I hope nothing but good things for this region, which has been my home for over a year.

You've certainly had a major impact on Osiris over the past 2 months (and before then), although of course, the actions you took during your time as Pharaoh, however much you regret them now, were, all, your decisions. I think you are better than blaming someone else for them.

No one forced you declare war on Lazarus, or to cut relations with other regions when they "disrespected" us. People may have had opinions, on both of those courses of action, not necessarily the same opinion either. Indeed to blame a specific ideology - or indeed any other group or subgroup of them - for what was ultimately decisions taken by you in consultation with your Government - would be disingenuous to say the least.

I don't doubt you thought these decisions were best for Osiris in the circumstances at the time, and have since changed your mind on some or part of them. But equally, at the time, you thought they were correct, or else you wouldn't have done them. I guess though this eventuality is an inevitability from following trajectories that are responses to external actions and perceptions. Now, as much as when you took the decisions, your thinking is driven by external stimuli, not by the formation and adherence to a specific goal or plan. Policy has been driven by a necessity to make an impact, at nearly any cost. Which is exciting, though not necessarily cohesive.

However, I think the level of interest in this post, from a variety of people including some recent members, is indicative of the fact that despite the inevitable international effects of an aggressive and responsive foreign policy - Osiris remains solid, and that's a huge achievement. Indeed, I don't think the situation is half as dire as you suppose, so long as we keep everything clean over the next election. Personally, I think the state of affairs wherein the region remains internally robust, is not a coincidence, but a deliberate consequence of your prioritisation of the community above even your foreign policy actions. Rather than berating yourself, you should be commended for that.

Foreign policy can easily and dramatically be changed, forgotten, rewritten, etc - as you've proven many times. Indeed there are many possible interpretations of the foreign policy situation, of which I've heard you personally put forwards quite a few over the past few months, never mind anyone else. But regardless of the foreign policy issues, which are all salvageable, there's plenty of positives to take out of the term - and I think you'd do well to take a moment to consider how Osiris and yourself, can best profit going into the future, from the good work you have done.
