December 10th is one of our four regional holidays; Reformation Day is dedicated to commemorating the Osiris Reformation Period and serves to celebrate the founding of the Osiris Fraternal Order! Osiris is a land filled with gifted, talented, and intelligent folks, so I can think of no better way to honour our roots than with a huge ol’ Writing Contest!
Each participant may submit up to three (3) short stories, each relating to one of the three available prompts provided by our Hasal-Pharaoh trio of CoKoVe! Put as much effort into your submission(s) as you so choose; the key is to have fun! The contest will run from December 10th to the end of the month. A winner will shortly after, be announced! Good luck, everyone!
Cormac’s Prompt:
You wake up shivering through an icy breeze. As your eyes flutter open, the first thing you notice is there's snow touching your eyelids. The second thing you notice is the stars look wrong. And third, that there are two moons hanging in the sky. But otherwise this looks like your town square, empty of people — except you. Or is it? You can hear the faint crunch of footsteps in the snow behind you…
Koth’s Prompt:
You arrive to work a few minutes early, and nobody's there. A little odd, you think, since you saw plenty of cars outside. You swipe yourself in, sit down at your desk, and it's dead silent. Your shift begins, but still nobody else has arrived. A sinking feeling hits your stomach...where is everyone?
Venico’s Prompt:
The clouds open up and a slight drizzle begins to come down. Water runs off your coat as you pull your collar closer and continue forward. In the distance you hear some footsteps running through the forming puddles in a noisy fashion. That person is in a hurry, huh? You reach into your coat pocket and pull out the assignment you were supposed to have read a half hour ago. Hunching over it to protect it from the rain, which you fail to, your fingers open up the paper and your eyes take in as much as they can before the water ruins even more words. The footsteps again in the distance but closer now. A small stream of water courses off your head and onto the parchment fully washing away its message now, but raising your eyes to the street ahead, you know what must be done.
