THE BRITANNIAN KINGDOM
General Election wrote:
The Kingdom of Britannia has just undergone a major General Election in which the incumbent Prime Minister, Arthur Jameson, declared that he was not seeking re-election for a third term in 10 Downing Street. This led the race for Prime Minister to be left wide open and many saw this as a chance to have a new fresh and active restart to the region's growingly inactive executive government. The race for the Premiership saw five candidates put their names forward for the top spot; Levi Jansen, Andree, Karl Spitzer, Sebastian Mountbatten and Chae Montleone. In the end, Levi Jansen secured a strong lead in the polls and won the premiership with a 55% majority. The House of Commons welcomed back three incumbent Members of Parliament (Arthur Jameson, Karl Spitzer and Levi Jansen) and also welcomed two new members; Lucas Mountbatten and Maxwell S. Lane. In the end, here are the following results for the election:Prime Ministerial Election[c]Levi Jansen - 11 (55%) Sebastian Mountbatten - 3 (15%) Andree Gunderson - 1 (5%) Karl Spitzer - 4 (20%) Chae Montleone - 1 (5%) Total Votes: 20[c]Commons Election[c] Levi Jansen (U) - 13 (16.5%) Maxwell S. Greeting from Britannia,

For those of you who do not know me yet I am Levi Jansen and I am honored to serve as the second Prime Minister of The Britannian Kingdom. As the new political figure for my home region I want to extend my gratitude and how honored I am to be leading this wonderful region. As Prime Minister one of my goals is to strengthen Britannia’s relationship with other regions. I am eager to reach out to you and your government to do so.

As I came into office recently I and the administration have been working hard on foreign issues to plan and discuss the regions next steps when interacting with our friends and allies. I am very honored and pleased that this is going well and we shall be establishing foreign events within the next few weeks.

I would like to thank you all for your support in establishing a relationship between our region and yours and I hope to soon meet with your leaders to move forward with how we can together build upon those relationships.

Best Regards,

The Right Hon. Levi E. Jansen
Prime Minister of Britannia

To: The Prince of Wales

Due to a Real Life Emergency that will affect the Crown's availability in the coming days, we hereby appoint His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales as Crown Regent from Monday 21 March to Wednesday 29 March, unless an order suspending this regency is issued.

HIBM King-Emperor Alexander IV of The Britannian Kingdom

Just a short while ago my family received a call from our relatives telling us that one of my uncles suffered some health complications. The original plan was to have a regency for a week as RL would be extremely busy starting on. Wednesday but due to this family emergency I am forced to call the regency early to ensure that there is someone in place as the Crown Regent. I will be wrapping up the State Visit tomorrow with the joint signing after which I should already be on my way out of the country and headed to see my relative. Due to that those relatives live in a rural area, mobile data will be scarce so I will not be able to log on to the forums often but if it is an important matter, ping me on discord and if I am able to answer, I will. I have full confidence that the Prince will execute the duties of the office well and look forward to returning with some better news about my relative.

THE BRITANNIAN KINGDOM Early May Foreign Update
General Election wrote:
In April, The Britannian Kingdom held a major General Election. This was the second consecutive election in which the incumbent Prime Minister declared that he was not seeking re-election for a third term to 10 Downing Street. But unlike the last election, only two candidates stepped forward - Attorney General Karl Spitzer and Member of Parliament South Boston Irishmen. However, on the final day before voting began, South Boston Irishmen withdrew his candidacy and Karl Spitzer was elected Prime Minister as the only candidate for the position. In the election for the House of Commons, four incumbent Members of Parliament (Arthur Jameson, Karl Spitzer, Lucas Mountbatten, and South Boston Irishmen) were re-elected. The House also welcomed back former MP Albert Philips. Below are the results for the election:

During the remainder of my term, I hope to continue to expand connections between The Britannian Kingdom and our partners and allies around the world of Nationstates.

I would like that say thanks to all of you who take the time to read and care about the events back in Britannia. It is my sincere hope that our regions can continue to develop and expand our relations and promote each other's growth in every way possible.

Dear Citizens of The Britannian Kingdom,

For almost the past 8 months, I've had the honour of serving as your Sovereign. From a region that started just with me, we have grown to include citizens from all across Nationstates.

As many of you may have noticed, my activity has decreased during the past days and weeks, real life has been taking up more of my time and as we say here in NS, real life comes first. While I would have wished to be able to serve for a while longer, I believe that I am no longer fit to serve as your Sovereign.

This reign has been filled with ups and downs but the one thing I am sure about is that with all of your help, from those who advised me to those who at times criticized the monarchy, I was able to become a stronger Monarch for our region. From those who helped set up our branches of government, to those who joined having many years of experience, thank you for coming to this region and helping it develop. I hope that you all can continue to make it even better.Near the end of the week, I will be issuing my Instrument of Abdication, after it is issued HIBH Prince Sebastian will ascend the throne as HIBM King Sebastian I. Sebastian has served as Prince of Wales since December and I believe his experience and willingness to serve will help continue the development of our region's monarchy.

Thank you all, for these great 8 months and the many more that are still to come.

New Cultural Activities wrote:The past several weeks have seen a tremendous rebirth of many of the most well-liked cultural activities which The Britannian Kingdom has to offer.

The British Broadcasting Corporation, operated by HM Culture Department, has been promoting and developing several new series, and citizens have gotten involved in creating enjoyable and entertaining content as well. One of the most popular new series, Witness focuses on first-person accounts from people who have experienced firsthand some of today's most important news stories, while another, The Good News, offers light, positive stories to counter the negativity of other stories and events.

Additionally, several roleplays have been introduced or reinvigorated recently, including a new World Domination RP in which citizens have attempted to gain influence for their fictional nations through diplomacy and war. Another new cultural development has been the establishment of The Royal Zoo, where citizens may view and learn about animals from all across the world.

THE BRITANNIAN KINGDOM The June Foreign Update
General Election wrote:
On 11 June 2017, The Britannian kKingdom held another general election, the third consecutive race in which the incumbent Prime Minister did not seek a re-election for another term in office.

At the beginning of the campaign, incumbent Prime Minister Karl Spitzer and the incumbent Speaker of Parliament Klaus Mikaelson (South Boston Irishmen) both came forward to launch their bid for the Premiership, but somewhere in the middle of the campaign season, Prime Minister Spitzer withdrew his candidacy from both the Premier and Parliamentary race making leading to the uncontested election of Klaus Mikaelson as Prime Minister.

In the Parliamentary election , two incumbent MP's (Lucas Wessex and Klaus Mikaelson) were returned to office and were joined by two new MP's, William Wessex and Alain Aldeara. All four are members of the newly formed Sinn Fein, now the majority party in Parliament. The House of Commons also welcomed back former MP Levi Jansen who was re-elected in a runoff, defeating challanger Lord James Smith.

The Prime Minister's Inagural Speech wrote:

Citizens of Britannia,

Today, I am pleased and honored to take office as the 4th Prime Minister of Britannia. I am humbled by the trust that you have bestowed upon me, and I give you my solemn oath to do my very best not to betray that trust.

Today, you have made Sinn Fein the majority party in Britannian politics. We hold a majority of the elected seats alongside 10 Downing. It is our aim to change not just how this government functions, but the laws that govern us all. We, as a collective believe that by doing so, we are not just changing the region as it is for the better, but the region as we hope it to one day be.

I do not wish to bore you all with long speeches, and I prefer to have my people get straight to work, so I now will announce my cabinet appointments for this term.
Deputy Prime Minister- Mr. Karl Spitzer. Mr. Spitzer, as the outgoing Prime Minister, brings knowledge and experience to this post. Some may find it an odd appointment, as Mr. Spitzer was my would-be opponent these past two elections. However, I, like Julius Caesar, believe that for a man to continue to succeed and do better, he must be continually challenged. Mr. Spitzer will aid me in working towards the betterment of the region, but he will also challenge me on government issues, and he will provide an alternative point of view that will challenge me to find and provide the best possible solution to issues that we will face this term.

Home Secretary- Mr. William Wessex. Mr. Wessex has a love and passion for this region, and I know he will work every day to aid me in pursuing the growth of the region.

Foreign Secretary- Mr. Albert Phillips. Mr. Phillips has been absent from the forum as of late, due to personal issues. I have asked him to serve, and he has informed me that his activity should return to normal by the end of the current week. I welcome his service.

Culture Secretary- Mr. Lucas Wessex. Mr. Wessex has agreed to continue in this post for the term, and I am pleased to have him. He had some great ideas in this last term to increase forum activity, and I will be working with him to bring some of his ideas to light this term.

I will not be naming an appointment for the office of Attorney General. This is a position that has not been needed so far in our region, and I therefore find no need to fill the position. If circumstances change, I will be free to do so.

Thank you again for your trust and your dedication to this region. Together, we can all help to make this region what we know it can be… strong, united, and everlasting.

The Ascension And Coronation Of HIBM Sebastian I wrote:
Following the abdication of his former Majesty King Alexander IV, the Prince Sebastian Mountbatten ascended the throne as King Sebastian I .

Shortly atfer his ascension, the new King delivered a major address to the region on the abdication of his former Majesty King Alexander IV and in the same address he named the Prince Cobi Wessex Mountbatten as the new Prince of Wales and heir apparent .

The coronation of King Sebastian I was officially conducted on Thursday the 25th of May 2017 at Westminster Abbey and was officiated by the honourable Albert Philips. Upon his ascension to the throne , King Sebastian decided to honor his predecessor the former King Alexander by naming him the Duke of Edinburgh, Earl of Merioneth and Baron Greenwich.

Finally, it was announced by the King that Britannia will be celebrating LGBT pride month, commemorating the 1969 Stonewall Riot. The celebration will last throughout the month of June.

THE BRITANNIAN KINGDOM The July Foreign Update
The Pact Of Friendship And Cooperation Between The Britannian Kingdom And The New United Kingdom wrote:
On the 11th Day of July 2017, The Parliament of Britannia ratified a treaty of friendship and cooperation with the region of The New United Kingdom to further establish and strengthen the diplomatic ties that exist between them. The pact was positively received by the government and the people of both region and it tends to provide more opportunities for both sides to cooperate and get along with each other.
The pact is the first set of treaty/bi-lateral agreement to exist between The Britannian Kingdom and The New United Kingdom and it tends to lay the foundation for future agreement and cooperation between the government and the people of both region.
New Diplomatic Mission wrote:
The Britannian Kingdom is happy to announce the establishment of an embassy and diplomatic relationship with the regions of The Realm Of Balder, Equinox, The Republic Of Europeia , Orisis and The Realm Of Albion. The government of The Kingdom Of Britannia is looking forward to further strengthen the newly established diplomatic relations.
Constitutional Amendment wrote:
The Britannian Kingdom recently took action to adapt our regional Constitution to meet the changing needs of our population. In Amendment II to the Second Constitution of Britannia, the Britannian Parliament sought to first modernise the constituencies which MPs are elected to represent. Currently set as Northumbria, Mercia, Caledonia, Hibernia, and London, future MPs will now have the opportunity to choose their own constituency, so long as it is an actual place in the IRL United Kingdom. Additionally, the Parliament sought to balance out the process for further amendments to the Constitution. This saw the standards moved from 5 votes in Parliament (which currently only consists of 5 votes total, meaning the requirement was effectively unanimity) and 2/3 of voters in a referendum, to now be set at 2/3 of Parliament, and a majority of voters in a referendum.

While Amendment II was originally defeated in the public referendum stage, the Britannian Parliament maintained its commitment to the benefits provided, and so underwent the amendment process again, this time with the amendment achieving approval by a landslide in the public referendum, and solidified into law with the approval of the Prince Regent. Now, Parliament has moved on to a review of a separate portion of the Constitution, in an effort to balance the powers of the Monarchy to be more compatible with those of the People.
