What are your thoughts on unifiying our military with close allies?

My sincerest apologies if any of these questions seem combative, but I am deeply interested in both of the Viziers' visions regarding the future of the region so that I may make an informed decision when voting.

Beyond festivals, what in particular will you do to increase activity in Osiris and increase the number of active citizens?

Would you be interested in pursuing further constitutional reforms, and if so, what would be the content of these constitutional reforms?

You mentioned that your intent to pursue an expansion of the Osiran diplomatic and treaty system and generally forging better, stronger relations with other regions. Would this include the eventual goal of forging new close allies and would you be open to considering changes in Osiran military policy should these strengthen relations with other regions?

Do you envision the GCR Sovereignty Accords as primarily being a treaty of nonaggression and mutual recognition of sovereignty, or as the foundation for further alliances between members?

Related to the previous two questions, would you primarily seek to forge strong relations with and orient Osiris towards fellow GCRs or otherwise large, Independent-leaning regions such as Europeia, or would you seek to orient Osiris towards raider regions and their militaries?

It's no secret that certain elements bear strong grudges against the OFO due to the manner in which the current government and Constitution were established, as well as their perceptions regarding the control of the Osiran government, and that said elements remain a thorn in the side of Osiran interests abroad. Would you seek to minimize the damage that these elements due to Osiris through various processes, such as reconciliation?

I’m glad to see all of the questions here. It’s good to see that so many people are taking an interest in the outcome of this election and in the implications of what kind of future it may bring for Osiris. I am going to answer each person’s question(s) sequentially and hope that my answers clear up whatever everyone was curious to know.

Thank you for the kind words Jur. Fedele’s organization of our military appears to be logistically sound, and Yuno’s contribution has been persistent and thorough, but despite all of this the military looks pretty drained. I haven’t had very much experience with the military and will be consulting the seasoned authorities throughout this, but I hope to bring about some changes here that will see it running more effectively, with more manpower and more effective communication between the military and the rest of the government. I want to see anyone with the ability to do so helping our Legion represent Osiris and will work alongside our military leadership to make this happen: again, more one-on-one talks with Osiris regionals, more regional telegrams, and just more communication in general. I think people need to know that they don’t lose anything by doing this, as maybe people get too comfortable just sitting around in the region and too attached to the endorsements they’ve collected. I will work with the government to establish proper incentive for joining the Legion and participating in operations, such as guaranteed endorsement of the participating nation by a team of cabinet officials once they return so they don’t feel they’ve lost progress domestically.

I also want to get the Legion to be working more closely with our allies. I just visited a channel made explicitly for this purpose, which only one Legionnaire has joined so far. This is not acceptable. Military strength lies in numbers, and we should be doing everything we can to expand the potential of our military ability, which definitely lies in conscripting members within Osiris, but, more importantly even, should involve doubling our military might (or better) through collaboration with friends and allies who are doing the same work within their own regions. This is connected in a way to my foreign affairs goals, which involve the network of ambassadors, pacts, and treaties I’ve already mentioned.

Omega has asked about my plans for the OBC. Our media outlets have been doing well lately, and I commend everyone responsible for this. I want to keep the state of our media steadily improving and I think we have a great team of capable individuals who, if well coordinated, could turn the service provided by the Osiris Broadcasting Company from “good” into “amazing”. I don’t want to talk too much about my prospective cabinet picks here because it feels inappropriate, but I’d like to mention that I have at least FIVE individuals in mind whose skills combined could generate extremely high quality material that integrates good graphic design with good writing and good journalism practices and would help Osiris immensely, at home and abroad. I want to provide good community outreach efforts through telegrams and dispatches and keep the light entertainment (polls, cartoons, satirical articles) rolling out. We’ve talked about a radio show and I’ll look into making this happen, and I’ve recently been given the idea of a “breaking news” thread (thanks!) that I think would be a very helpful addition to our broadcasting service.

Adytus: looks like I’ve already answered this! I look forward to reaching out to our allies, discussing the logistics of such a thing, and trying to make this happen.

I appreciate your interest Atlantica and I hope my answer will provide the information you need. Don’t worry about seeming “combative”; this is an important position with many duties and tough questions should be asked of the candidates running for it. Now festivals are a good thing and we’ve had a positive experience with them in the recent past but the upcoming festival and any that follow it are only a small part of my overarching plan for increasing involvement and interest here. I’ve outlined it some above, but I’ll reiterate here that involves a lot of outreach on an individual level to members of our region: encouraging people to join the Discord, encouraging them to get involved in polls, encouraging them to get involved with the forum, et cetera. And while regional telegrams are useful, I think one-on-one communication will show people that they’re really talking to a human being and aren’t just part of some blanket spam list.

I don’t doubt Sygian’s ability should he seek to take a similar approach to encouraging and empowering members of Osiris, but I have the head start here of having been in close contact with very many people in this region (who aren’t yet involved in any of its higher workings but probably could be) through my extensive involvement in community affairs outreach, which has involved polling citizens and encouraging citizens to get involved in poll design, as well as campaigning for endorsements after becoming a Guardian. I recently purchased a Postmaster-General account and plan to use it to help me organize my attempts to get in touch with everyone I’ve connected with and had conversations with here and consolidate them in one place where we can all talk and work together. Even if I don’t win this election, I plan to work on this anyway.

I’m not against looking into further constitutional reform. I don’t see a glaring need for it, but I’m not against pursuing it. I have proposed a few amendments to our legal code that fell by the wayside and which I may look into revising to better reflect public opinion, but this is definitely not my number one priority. This is an executive position and my goals suit its powers and expectations closely. My principal interests are getting more people involved, improving departments and services that want for betterment, and working heavily on our FA network. Which leads nicely into the next question…

I’d love to see new close allies within our FA dossier. I’m not sure what changes would need to be made to our military policy but, as the person who would essentially be in charge of military organization above the cabinet members I delegate this authority to, I’d be happy to consider any and, if necessary, bring them to the Council of Scribes for discussion and approval. If this would mean turning our entire military orientation on its head and throwing close allies that we already have under the bus, I’ll have to say “no thanks”, but I’m not opposed to the discussion and consideration of any potential change of organization and policy with anyone who is interested in having the discussion and who could possibly be a reliable ally.

I think the Sovereign Accords have been great for us and the other participants. They’ve gone beyond the expectation of nonaggression pacts for some of the regions involved and have helped forge close relationships between them, but I also recognize that the organization and style of the alliance is not for everyone, and that a lot of regions would prefer not to take part in them. This is totally fine; I wouldn’t expect everybody to want to part in a multi-regional treaty like this and understand that a lot of people would probably want to work out the details of an agreement on an individual level, from one region to another. I am willing to take the extra time and put in the extra work to make this happen, and know that some of the logistics could be a challenge. I’m ready to take this on. I think the Sovereign Accords have worked well for us and for the other participants (and have even worked well in different ways for the different regions involved), but I’m not going to try to force them upon people who aren’t interested but might still like to build the same kind of strong relationship between their region and Osiris. And if this means reaching out to regions on the behalf of other regions they might not get along with for the sake of improving our foreign relations and, hopefully, helping open doors for them as well, then I’m more than willing to do so. I think the more cooperation the better and I’ll gladly try to bring people together to make this happen.

I think Osiris’s relationship with other GCRs and with large independents like Europeia is very important, but I also think that we could benefit from working with raider armies (going back to what I said about the military). Again, this is an area where I’ll require consulting assistance, since I haven’t had a lot of experience with the military or with trying to coordinate military collaboration, and it also might be something that, again, requires me to reach out to multiple regions at a time, some of which might have bad relations with each other, to try to make something work out for everybody. My position on this issue isn’t sharply defined, but I’m optimistic. I think I can make both of these things work out, or, at the very least, make as many connections work out as possible. There will probably be at least a few regions who just can’t have a working relationship with someone who maintains close relations with a region they dislike, and I accept this reality. You can’t please everyone, but you can do your best.

As for your last question, which I’m guessing is probably why you forewarned me about appearing “combative”: I am not terribly concerned about dealing with people who have these feelings towards our region. Now I’m not saying that I am dismissing their feelings: I’m saying that I am just not concerned about talking with these people and trying to dispel their concerns. I think a lot of these perceptions stem from isolation from the Osiris culture. A grudge against the OFO due to the manner of its establishment is obsolete at this point. The key players in its establishment are essentially not participating in it any longer: Cormac and Tim are outright gone, and Koth, while he helps maintain the forum and Discord server, tends to remain behind the scenes and doesn’t hold a position of significant influence in the government or in the region. And as for anyone’s “perceptions regarding the control of the Osiran government”, I invite them to visit us and see for themselves how the government is “controlled”. We are not a dictatorship. We aren’t controlled from outside. There is a strong core of dedicated people here that controls this region and anyone with suspicions or concerns about how Osiris is “controlled” should come here and meet them.

I hope I’ve answered everyone’s questions. I encourage you to ask more.

This concerns the currently instituted punishments on Amerion and Tim Stark, and the slightly lesser one on Derpsy.
Are those sentences too harsh, too lenient, or exactly as they should be?

Thank you for the question, Ridersyl. While I'm not sure if this is really something I could influence as Chief Vizier any questions gauging my positions in general are fair game and I'll entertain them. Now I wasn't around for any of this happening and I can't say I know much about the individuals listed, but I've said among my positions that I want to work on expanding our FA horizon and working over the proscribed regions list alongside regional leadership and experienced, long-term members. If this isn't an example of such a related thing that'd warrant review then I don't know what is. This is a case in which I personally would consider reaching out to the individuals listed and assessing their position on our government, and strongly considering and vouching for the forgiveness of their status of it seems dated and unwarranted.

Like I said, I'm unfamiliar with this situation, but I'm open to going back and reviewing it, and any others that might need review. So if there's anything else like this that I might not be aware of but that older players remember, please do bring it to my attention so that I can work on it.

I'd like to congratulate Syg on his victory and wish him success in the position. I don't expect to be included in the cabinet but I ask that he consider a number of my prospective picks when he makes his appointments:

Adytus: Vizier of Foreign Affairs
Mghnb: SV of Foreign Affairs

Lex: Vizier of Media Relations
Imki (if she'll take it): SV of Media Relations; specialization: Media Graphics
Matt C: SV of Media Relations; specializations: Reporting, Writing

Syb: Vizier of Community Affairs
Pelican: SV of Community Affairs; specializations: Culture, Cash
Jur: SV of Community Affairs; specializations: Gameside Writing

Fedele: Vizier of Military Organization (Martial General of the Legion)
Yuno: SV of Military Organization

This was my list, which I'm sure I'd have added to, but I won't need to be doing that now. I hope you choose to include some or all of these individuals, as I believe they are committed, deserving of promotion and recognition, and will do very well for Osiris in these positions.

Finally, I'd like to thank everyone who participated in this election for their contribution and, especially, all of the people who supported me throughout the process. You guys are fantastic.

Hail Osiris!
