Arda Episode VIII: Return of the Update March 2017 The ESS Arda, a ship you may remember from the NS World Fair, was taken hostage by the First Order, one of the region’s parties, upon its return home. Sacul Astoria, the ship’s Captain, summoned backup from Astoria Laboratories, while Supreme Commander Vixy av Riket of the First Order left control of the Troopers in the hands of her capable sister and second-in-command, Tira Tyrus.
The Arda’s crew are putting up a fight with the help of the Astoria Laboratories staff, but it seems that the First Order may lay their hands upon the plans they are attempting to steal, as Jazzy leads one towards the secret documents in a classic treason move. Or perhaps she’s just a little naïve, and believes too much in the good of people.
For now, the fight could go either way. What the crew lack in numbers they make up for in combat skills, but the sheer quantity of Troopers may result in them overpowering the crew of the ESS Arda. What exactly the plans contain has not been disclosed, but if the First Order is willing to put this much effort into obtaining them, it is likely something quite nefarious. Whether the ESS Arda will attempt to get back the plans can currently only be guessed at.
Love was in the air in Arda recently, as our Valentines Festival kicked off with a bang, or rather, a wub... Market stalls soon popped up, with some people selling kisses and cuddles while others sold Stuff like glitter bombs, and Loneliness Chocolate, for that special someone who just doesn't have a valentine. In a change from the classic game 'Insult the Poster Above You' we played 'Compliment the Poster Above You' which was a nice way to make everyone awkward.
Some other games Arda played were 'He/She loves me' in which participants would alternate between 'Loves me' and 'Loves me not' Some players believed it was indicating what the poster above you felt about you, but that has not been confirmed.
Other games were 'Love Memes' Basically post memes about love, 'Love Songs' basically post songs about love, 'To: and From:' in which people would find funny Valentines cards to send to someone.
And of course, what festival would be complete without 'Last Poster gets to Live'? Yes, in true festival style, Vixy slid a 'Last Poster gets to Live' into the various topics of sickening love.
'February marked the first TAP (The After Party) Conference. Many people from all around Arda attended, some of them even decided to take to the stage to speak about the topic of the conference which was 'Unity'. Some very important words were spoken at this conference. Here are a few quotes from the evening:Quotes from TAP:
“By working together we can overcome the challenges we face and we can all continue to be proud of our region and confident of our future." - Akillian Talleyrand, TAP Co-Founder, Consul of the Interior and Senator
"I believe that The After Party’s values align well with those of the region as a whole, and those upon which it was founded. Inclusiveness, a strong, transparent and democratically elected government, a great sense of fun and light-heartedness." - Sacul Astoria, TAP Co-Founder and Senator
"Our region is quite literally built on unity. We are governed in unity and our culture is unity. There are so many different moving parts that all make up the body of Arda, and they are all equally important and worthy of respect." - Aynia Lucina-Holland, TAP Glitter and Joy Supplier and Consul of Foreign Affairs
"When I first came here... I didn't know what in the world was going on, I was expecting something to do with NationStates but no, not much about that. I knew about the roleplaying though, and, that's great. I hoped there were kind people, and no disappointing from that because all the people I have met are the nicest and greatest people I could know online." - Taylor Cameron, TAP Press Secretary and newcomer to the region
"However, unity does not mean constantly being happy with one another, that would be ridiculous. We need resistance and we need to be contested every now and again. Once again, the Senate is an example. My recent proposal for a change in the Criminal Code got challenged, to attempt to make a more efficient, more intelligent article for us to vote for. While unity is necessary, sometimes, so is resistance." - Rarry Riket, TAP Health, Safety and Sanitation Officer and Senator
"But I did stumble across one seemingly inherent attribute of partying, and I'd like to share it with you today. You see, parties seem like a finite experience. A microcosm of revelry, if you will. A tiny blip of celebration on the otherwise dull register tape of time. But they aren't. The real party is the register tape. It is the macrocosm the microcosm sits in, an infinite spiral of time and alcohol." - Cthoria Cerulean-Bloom, TAP Expert on Partying
