Make Osiris Fraternal Again! - The Great Wall of Mexico for Chief Vizier
WHO I AM
The first time I’ve played NationStates was in November 2013. During that time, I was a small-time defender who detagged regions against the “evil” Black Riders under the alias “Multi-Culturalists”. Soon, I was recruited into The Eternal Knights by Nephmir, thinking that I was going to do raider work temporarily until TEK got big enough for me to continue defending. When that didn’t happen, and tensions started rising in TEK, I wrote a controversial dispatch detailing the faults of Nephmir and the consequences of his actions. I then settled in Markarth and eventually waned out of NationStates.
Two years later, I was sitting in my dorm room, thinking about what new addiction I was going to replace my Team Fortress 2 / Netflix addiction with. I decided to be productive and jumped right back into NationStates. I started out in Rossferry, a rapidly growing region (and still is growing quickly), where RMB messages pop up just as often as Osiris’ Discord chat messages. They wanted to build a military, so I offered to spy on HYDRA Command as it was a young region that was easy to infiltrate and break up from the inside.
I signed up for HYDRA Command’s military and attended each raid. But as I raided with them, I grew in their community. I started to like the “evil” raiders I was with rather than the natives I tried to protect. They soon became the family I never had and I decided to be a raider full-time. Few months later, I joined The Black Hawks to supplement the lack of raids in HYDRA Command.
“But, PT, what has that got to do with legislating?”
Real life experience aside, so going past my real life experiences with Model United Nations and canvassing for Bernie Sanders, I became the first Chief Councillor in a region called Oyashima. It was founded by a group of people in the Vasentius NS family, who were mostly from GCR or invader backgrounds, and I was invited to create it. As the first Chief Councillor there, the first bills I passed were about criminal protection and government accountability. I believe, and still believe, that we need to create a government where the people are the politicians’ bosses, not the other way around.
It’s because of the democratic principles that I hold dearly that I pledge that if I get elected, all viziers and sub-viziers that I appoint will instead be appointed by you through nominations and snap polls.

DRAINING THE SWAMP
It is time to drain the swamp in Osiris.
It is time to bring in new people into the political process who will run for government roles and bring in fresh, new ideas.
Cormac believes that the Osirian people have failed him. He argues that we will go back to the bad, old days of the KRO and pander to “moderates” and defenders.
Wrong. We strengthened ties with fellow Game Created Regions while maintaining our identity as a raiding region. We repaired relations with The South Pacific, a defender region, but that doesn’t mean that we compromised our raider identity. If you know the enemy and know yourself, you don’t need to fear the outcome of any battle.
What we need are new people with new ideas and perspectives. We do not need ideas that came from 2013 NationStates. We need ideas from people who live in the present: 2017 NationStates. The people can’t fail the government, only the government can fail the people.
I know Adytus is a tremendous person. He really is. But we need new leadership who will take us in a new direction.
We need someone who can drain the swamp and bring new citizens right into the political process. We need someone who will stand up to the old ideals and forge new ideas and policies. We need someone who can make Osiris great again. Who can do all that?

FOREIGN POLICY
Right now, we are repairing the wounds of the past and we’ve got to seal them up completely. The only way we’re going to do that is by diplomacy. We have got to attract more people to come into Osiris and be part of our community. We need to be the gold standard of Game Created Regions and we’ve got to prove it through diplomacy.
But how do we do it? We get more people involved in diplomatic affairs, we reach out to more regions, and we get people from those regions to visit us. If we do a great job internally, we’ll do a great job externally.
About The Invaders, due to their horrible actions lately (can you believe that they tried to encroach The West Pacific? Sad!), we need to sit down with them and make it clear that they cannot continue their actions against other GCRs.
We know that General Knot intentionally provokes people. But if we decide to go to war earlier than he does, we are launching an offensive war. Knot loves an offensive war; it gives him a reason to play the victim card and take over one or more of the GCRs. Let’s be the smart people and not give into his tricks.
As someone who has seen its brutality, its futility, and its stupidity, war should be the last resort.

GCR SOVEREIGNTY ACCORDS
The GCR Sovereignty Accords needs to be fixed. I have been on the record for supporting it, and I still support it. But while it is a step in the right direction, it forgets to mention what it would mean for coup attempts by rogue World Assembly Delegates and overall regime change.
Do we support the original, tyrannical government? Or do we support the democratic, yet treasonous, citizens?
Because of how the GCRSA is written, how do we answer this question? That is why, when I become Chief Vizier, I will re-negotiate the GCR Sovereignty Accords by asking our delegates to the GCRSA to propose amendments to answer this question into the treaty. While GCRs should be stable, they must be refreshed from time to time by people like you: people who want to see change.

MILITARY
There’s nobody bigger or better at the military than I am. They are wonderful people, planting our flag in many, many regions. That’s why I want to build up the military. Build the greatest empire, given the recent R/D slump. We have the manpower, and we have the expertise.
But we shouldn’t use it for war unless all other options are exhausted.
We will stick to our raider roots, as we always have, and entice people to join the military with special perks like forum badges. I don’t want a military culture, and our current culture is already spectacular, but it should be an option people choose because they want to. We will make it sexy. We will make it engaging. We will make it powerful.

FORUM ACTIVITY
We need people. It’s what keeps our community alive. But we need more people to expand our community and make it more diverse. That is why we’ve got to make it easier to get involved.
Not only do I support Sygian’s effort to summarize Osirian law, I added a TL;DR section in this thread for you to read. I want you to know what I stand for and the promises that I will push hard to make. I am currently making a roleplay thread which will be summarized so that new people can easily join the roleplay.
We need to aggressively recruit for the forums. We need to make it exciting. We should be the region that resurrected nations live in, not another region. We need to post announcements about our region. There are people roleplaying in the Regional Message Board; we’ve got to reach out to them and convince them that the roleplays on the forums is much better than what they’re going to get on the RMB.
We’ve also got to advertise for Osiran Broadcasting Corporation. I love the work they do.
Interviews? Count me in.

Media from another region? Great, but would it be better if we went to their region?

We can market the interviews we do (we can interview people in their region too), roleplays, and lessons taught in the Academy of Osiris.
If you want to increase forum activity, you need to make it attractive.

When we talk about conflicts of interest, I will admit that I have connections to raider groups across NationStates; I am a captain in HYDRA Command and a sergeant in The Black Hawks. I am also the HYDRA Command ambassador to Balder and a citizen of The Place That Has No Big Banks.
That being said, my raider background will never affect decisions that I do and will make.
